A Dice Game for Kids: Tenzi

If you’re a parent, anything fun that also happens to be educational is a win-win for you and your child. That’s where dice come in. Dice can add that educational element disguised in a fun game form. With many games out there involving dice, here’s one that is off the beaten path but still worthy of being played:

Tenzi

Tenzi is a game designed for ages 7+, but can really be played for preschoolers and up if you have patience to help your preschooler identify the numbers on the dice. The set includes enough dice for up to 4 players, but you can obviously add more sets to add more players.

Objective: It’s simple! Get all your dice to show the same number.

How to play: Each player receives 10 6-sided dice. They roll them all and then determine which number they want to aim for. They can choose to roll however many dice they want after the initial roll. The first person to get all their dice to show the same number wins. When playing with younger children, you can skip the speed factor and just have them roll until they reach the objective.

For more ways to play this game, check out the suggestions on the Tenzi site.

If you want to make it easier for young kids, we would suggest looking at using numbered dice instead. Dice with numerals are a lot easier for kids to recognize over the traditional dice with pips. It’ll help kids learn their numbers and reinforce their visual recognition. Below are some examples of what we have available:

Rainbow Numbered Dice - 10 for $2.50

Opaque Pink Numeral Dice - 10 for $5

Glitter Black Numeral Dice 10 for $7.50

For the smallest of children who want to play, you can also play Tenzi with colors instead of numbers. The rainbow dice would be perfect for kids to grow into. Even the youngest of kids are more familiar with their colors than with their numbers, so you can easily help them try to get the same colors to show on all their dice. Alternatively, you could get our blank dice and make your own themed game to fit your child’s interests.

Rainbow Spot Dice - 10 for $2.50

If you’re just looking for an inexpensive starter set or looking to add a player to an existing set, we have many options to fit your budget. We offer many traditional dice with pips in a variety of colors for as low as $2.50 per set of 10. To make your own Tenzi set, that is only $10 plus shipping for up to 4 players. If you aren’t particular on colors, we also offer wholesale discounts for large quantity orders. If you have any questions, you can contact us at roll@gmdice.com
